All review team personnel and workflow decisions were made by a Review Manager, who worked on this case for several years and had recently left Deloitte. Having an established review team and workflow in place gave you and the new Review Manager a sense of security that everything was running smoothly, and you were confident that there would be no issues when you were asked to make a release to counsel with a one-day turnaround.
While assisting the Review Manager with validations, you find many documents with missed privilege calls. A closer examination reveals that the missed privilege is a pervasive issue, not just limited to one or two reviewers, and will require extensive remediation. You became aware of the issues with the privilege coding at 4:00 p.m., the day before the delivery date, which has now been placed in jeopardy. To compound issues, the review team is not allowed to work overtime.
